ARTIST PROFILE

A mainly self taught artist I have a love of nature, New Zealand and Australia wildlife in particular. I am inspired by the natural bush and coastline, the beaches and ever changing landscape which I capture in my work. Photography is another of my loves, basing many of my pieces on the photos taken. I generally work with Winsor Newton Professional Acrylics on stretched box canvas. Using large brushes, I work with a free, loose style on the background of my pieces, then finish the finer detail. All works are sealed and the edges painted. I have a particular love of birds and enjoy capturing their unique personalities in their natural habitat. With a strong belief in conservation I paint nature in all it's glory to educate and enthral. By embracing nature's healing and calming power I am able to express myself freely in the pieces created. I sell privately, will take commissions and have paintings for sale through the Taylor-Jensen Fine Arts Gallery, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
